The 400 Co SS 15/16 Fashion Show

Tonight I was extremely lucky to be a VIP at The 400 Co Spring / Summer Launch, which was hosted at the Soleil Pool Bar, Rydges Hotel. Refreshing cocktails were enthusiastically accepted on arrival and pots of pretty flowers lined the runway. The night was definitely off to a good start!

The brains behind The 400 Co. is dynamic pocket rocket, Laura Chong - designer AND director of this amazing Brisbane brand. Laura was a lawyer in her past life and believes strongly that women should not have to hide their feminity in the workplace to be taken seriously. Amen, sister!

In her new collection, Laura has created pieces that reflect the city of Brisbane, with a contrast between nature and architecture. The result is a perfect clash of floral and pinstripe patterns, in tailored, versatile, classic pieces. Her designs encourage women to embrace their inner confidence and to stand out from the crowd. Each piece is named after strong and inspirational "power women", including the "Hepburn Blouse", "Austen Skirt", "The O Dress" (my personal favourite) and our very own "Ita Cami".

I think what stood out to me most however, was the quality of the fabrics and the attention to detail. From floral pops of colour in the lining, right down to the choice of button! Laura's designs are built to last and therefore, also represent great value for money. Some teachers may think that corporate wear does not have a place in our schools, but The 400 Co. has a gorgeous range of pants, blouses and midi skirts that could easily be adapted to the classroom.

It was wonderful to see so many people supporting a local business / brand and in turn, helping to put Brisbane under the fashion spotlight. "Power women" like Laura Chong, who take risks and chase their dreams, make me proud to be female and further more, motivate me to do the same.

Congratulations to Laura and her team, on a fantastic collection. I am sure you have won a few new fans tonight - me being your biggest! Check out the new collection and lots of other amazing pieces at www.the400co.com.au or click on one of the photos above.
